When the promises come with a fight

At that time the Canaanites were in the land- Genesis 12:6
When God led Abraham to Canaan—the very land He had promised—Abraham didn’t find it empty. The Canaanites were already there (Genesis 12:6). Isn’t it striking? God had ordained the place, yet opposition occupied it.
Just like Abraham, we often assume that obedience should lead to ease. We expect the path of God’s will to be smooth. But divine promises don’t always come without resistance. In fact, opposition often confirms we’re right where God wants us.
Faith doesn’t mean the absence of a fight—it means confidence in God’s presence in the fight. So when you face unexpected resistance in the place God has called you to, don’t question the promise. Instead, press in, knowing that the presence of giants doesn’t cancel God’s word—it reveals your need to trust Him more deeply.
Reflection:
Is there an area in your life where you’re facing resistance despite obeying God?
What might God be teaching you through the fight?
