Encouraged by the Holy Spirit

“Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit…” – Acts 9:31

We all face moments of deep discouragement. Sometimes it’s a passing comment, a social media post, or the ache of an unfulfilled dream that pulls us down. Discouragement is one of the enemy’s subtle tools—a strategy to cut short the plans God has for our lives. Rather than walking in the joy and strength of the Lord, we may find ourselves overwhelmed and defeated.

This morning, as I was meditating on Acts 9:31, one phrase stood out to me: “encouraged by the Holy Spirit.” How often do we look to people—those near and dear to us—for encouragement? And when we don’t receive it, we feel forgotten or overlooked. But what if we turned our attention to the Holy Spirit who dwells within us?

The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave lives in us (Romans 8:11). He is not distant or silent—He is present and willing to strengthen, comfort, and encourage our hearts. We don’t need to strive for approval or search endlessly for affirmation. The Spirit of God, our Helper and Comforter, is ready to uplift us—right where we are.

So, where do you need encouragement today?

Pause. Ask. Listen. He is near.

Reflective Questions:

1. In what areas of your life have you been seeking encouragement from people rather than the Holy Spirit?

2. How can you intentionally invite the Holy Spirit to speak encouragement into your heart today?
