Doors only God can open

They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it— Acts 12:10
Peter was imprisoned—bound in chains, heavily guarded, and facing trial. Yet while Peter was confined, the church was earnestly praying. God heard, and heaven moved. That night, Peter encountered a divine rescue. In a moment that defied logic, the iron gate—the very thing that stood in the way—opened by itself, and he walked through it.
At first, Peter was puzzled. It didn’t even seem real. But once he was out, he said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has rescued me.” When God moves, there’s no mistaking it. His work silences confusion and replaces it with certainty.
Sometimes, like Peter, we may not fully recognize God’s hand while we’re still in motion—but the gates that open, the chains that fall, and the peace that follows all bear witness: God is fighting for us. There are doors in life that no human effort can open, but when God steps in, they swing wide without resistance.
Reflection Questions:
1. Are there any “iron gates” in your life today that you need to trust God to open in His way and time?
2. How has God’s faithfulness in the past reminded you that He is always at work, even when you don’t see it at first?
